Sanitary Sewer Work Notice
Project Overview:
The Town of New Canaan, CT in conjunction with AECOM has contracted Flow Assessment Services to conduct dye testing in 23 locations throughout the sewered portion of the town. The testing is completed by adding a non-toxic green or red tracer dye to the town’s stormwater system at each of the proposed locations. The adjacent sewer system is inspected for the duration of the testing to verify if the dyed water is infiltrating from the stormwater system.
The dyed water testing will help the town identify inflow/infiltration into their sewer system by identifying direct or indirect connections from their stormwater system. The tests will last approximately 2-3 hours in each location.
Public safety officials will be notified prior to the testing beginning. The tracer dye poses no threat to human health or the environment. As a result of testing, dyed water may possibly be seen discharging from stormwater outfalls.
THIS IS NORMAL AND SHOULD NOT BE CAUSE FOR ALARM.
Expected Timeline: February 21st to March 1st
Please Note:
- The testing will be performed during the expected time frame listed above.
- Weather, holidays and weekends may shift test periods beyond the 24 to 72 hour time frame.
- Please contact Flow Assessment Services at 1-888-311-9799 should you have any questions or concerns.
