What We Do
The Assessor’s Office is responsible for the discovery, listing, valuation and equalization of all properties in the Town of New Canaan. This office is also responsible for the maintenance of assessment records and annual calculation of the tax base.

Forms and information can be found on this website in the right blue column. Completed forms can be submitted electronically by email to the Assessor except Board of Assessment Appeals forms and tax relief forms, which must be mailed or dropped off to the Assessor’s office.
Our office has public access terminals for public use at Town Hall between 7:30am - 3:30pm (Monday-Thursday) and 7:30-1:30pm (Friday) and online access to all current field cards. Cost to print the field card from public terminal is $1.00 per page.
Field Cards (aka Property Record Cards)
Request for copies of field cards should be done in writing to the assessor's office and must include payment prior to release of information as follows:
- Mailing of field cards should include a self-addressed envelope and $2.00 per page.
- Emailed or faxed copy is $5.00 per field card.
