What We Do
The Assessor’s Office is responsible for the discovery, listing, valuation and equalization of all properties in the Town of New Canaan. This office is also responsible for the maintenance of assessment records and annual calculation of the tax base.

(Forms can be submitted electronically by email to the Assessor except Board of Assessment Appeals forms and tax relief forms, which must be mailed or dropped off to the Assessor’s office)
Obtaining information on a property or request for copies of field cards:
Our office has public access terminals for public use at Town Hall and online access to all current field cards.
Request for copies of field cards should be done in writing to the assessor and must include payment prior to release of information as follows:
Mailing of field cards should include a self-addressed envelope and $2.00 per page.
Emailed or faxed $5.00 per field card.
Please be specific of your request. No refunds are allowed.
