Highway Department
What We Do
The Highway Department is responsible for the maintenance of the Town's 125 miles of public roads within the budgetary limits of the yearly budget. The safety and well-being of the citizens is a primary concern. In addition, the aesthetics of the Town are of utmost importance.
Highway Department services include:
Paving and road maintenance
Plowing and Deicing roads
General masonry repairs
Stone Walls
Catch Basins
Manholes
Drainage
Cleaning catch basins
Sweeping all Town road and Parking Lots
Leaf collection
Leaf composting
Roadside vegetation control
Litter control along roads
Road striping
Signs - installation and maintenance
Traffic (as directed by Police Department)
Road Identification (as needed)
Equipment maintenance for Highway and other departments
Vehicle maintenance For Highway and other departments
Communications Assist in removal of large trees as appropriate
Support Special events, Chamber of commerce, Walk to School, May fair, Touch a truck
Solid waste collection from Town buildings and Town litter bins
Roadside tree planting
Plant and Tree watering
Provide barricades for special events
Monitor/supervise construction projects by others as appropriate
Form to Dump Leaves
Support for all Emergency services.
