“Live” Documents On Demand  Land Use Records

The Town of New Canaan has collaborated with Documents-On-Demand (DOD), an AmeriScan’s cloud based document center that is designed specifically for municipalities.  This high-tech platform has streamlined our records to be available twenty-four (24) hours a day.  With DOD you can upload, index, and search over all of Land Use documents in seconds.

Due to the magnitude of documents and size of plans, Building Department Commercial Records can be retrieved by completing a Research Request form which is located on the Town of New Canaan website Online Services.  All Building, Planning & Zoning and Inland Wetlands archive residential records are available on DOD.  Active files for Building, Planning & Zoning and Inland Wetlands are not available on DOD.  

Health Department records will be available on DOD beginning in February or March.

Steps for access records on DOD:

  1. Select ~ADVANCE SEARCH
  2. Select ~SEARCH TEXT – ENTER PERMIT NUMBER (or) Street Number and Address.
  3. Select ~SEARCH DOCUMENT TITLE ONLY
  4. Select~ FOLDERS TO SEARCH : Building; Inland Wetland and P & Z
  5. Select ~ADVANCE SEARCH
