Marriage Licenses

Marriage licenses are issued by the Registrar of Vital Statistics (Town Clerk) of the Town in which the ceremony is to be performed.

Premarital blood tests are no longer required in the State of Connecticut.

Both parties must appear together, present photo identification and take an oath in the presence of the Registrar of Vital Statistics or Assistant Registrar.

When applying for a license, both the parties need to know their own social security numbers, their mothers' maiden names, and their parent's place of birth. They will also need to know the name, exact title, and telephone number of the person officiating at their wedding.

The license is then good for 65 days from the date of the application.

Marriage licenses can be obtained at the Town Clerk's Office between the hours of 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, by appointment only.

After the ceremony, the officiator must return the license to the Town Clerk of the Town in which the ceremony was held.

The fee for the license is $50. Certified copies are available for $20.00. We only accept cash or check.

Certified copies can be obtained by application made in person or through the mail. Some restrictions may apply. To print a Marriage License request form to send by mail, click here Marriage Certificate Request. Requests can be sent to Town Clerk/Registrar of Vital Statistics, P.O.
