Spring Youth Guitar Lessons Spring 2019
The New Canaan Recreation Department has announced they will offer both Beginner and Step Two Intermediate Youth Guitar Lessons beginning in March 2019.
The New Canaan Recreation Department has announced they will offer beginner guitar lessons for boys and girls in grades 3 through 8 beginning in March. Come learn to play the guitar in this new 8-week program beginning March 14 through May 9. (no class 4/18) (Dates subject to change per Saxe Middle School scheduling). The Thursday afternoon program will have grades 5-8 meet from 3:00-4:00 and grades 3-4 meet from 4:00-5:00 at the Saxe Middle School. This class will start you on your way to enjoying music and playing the guitar. You don’t even have to own a guitar; one will be provided for you by the instructor for each and every class! Each of the eight- one hour classes will provide a high level of group instruction in a fun and cooperative atmosphere. Learn cords, scales and theory and best of all, learn to play your favorite songs! Instructors Shane O’Reilly and Dave Pilchik are each an accomplished musician who each week demonstrate the versatility of the guitar to the students through live performances. Rental guitars are also available for students to practice their new talent in their home.

The 8-week program will be held on Thursdays with grades 5-8 meeting from 3:00-4:00 and grades 3-4 meet from 4:00-5:00 at the Saxe Middle School beginning March 14 through May 9 (no class on 4/18). Registration will open February 1 online or at the New Canaan Recreation Department in Waveny House. Both programs have a registration fee of $210. per person and are open to New Canaan Residents only. Both programs have been very popular so register early to avoid being closed out of a class.
