Welcome to the Western Grove Street Neighborhood Master Plan page.
The Town of New Canaan Planning & Zoning Commission is undertaking an in-depth planning study of the commercial properties on the western side of Grove Street as well as several commercial properties on the south side of Elm Street, west of Grove Street. We have retained the services of Dodson & Flinker who will conduct the study in conjunction with Brovitz Community Planning & Design and Planimetrics.
This study is the second "neighborhood study" of one of the town's commercial zones. This study is being conducted in response to the 2014 Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) which recommends studying the appropriate zoning throughout the downtown. The POCD also discusses and outlines several concepts and areas of need and how they affect the study area as well as the downtown as a whole. The Commission has long been concerned with the redevelopment potential of this area considering that many of the lots are very large, their proximity and potential impact on the neighboring properties and their relationship to the train station. As stated, this is the second neighborhood study undertaken by the Commission. The first study completed was the Cross and Vitti Streets Neighborhood Master Plan, which can be viewed here by clicking the link Cross and Vitti Streets Final Report 3-29-16.
The Commission and consultants will hold a series of public meetings on the plan as it progresses. Please check back for dates and times the meetings will be held.
