Welcome to the 2024 Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) Update page!

The POCD is a ten-year, state-mandated, planning document, meant to guide growth and development in our town. It also identifies strategies to protect important resources and attributes of New Canaan. The plan sets the table for many initiatives the town will undertake. Last updated in 2014, it is time once again for New Canaan to re-examine its identity and goals for the future. The POCD Sub-Committee in partnership with the Town’s Planning Consultant, SLR, will guide the POCD update process. This webpage will be the center for all relevant information for citizens to access. This will be a collaborative experience with many opportunities for the public to get involved, starting with a Community Survey to be posted in mid-September 2023. The first of multiple in-person public workshops will commence in late October/Early November 2023. This page will be frequently updated as new information becomes available.
All questions regarding the POCD process should be directed towards the Town Planner, Sarah Carey, at sarah.carey@newcanaanct.gov.
