Public Invited To Take Survey On Action Steps For Town’s 10-Year-Plan

The New Canaan community is invited to take an online survey to offer opinions on Action Steps that have been drafted for implementing the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) that is in the final stages of formation.

The survey is live now through Monday June 3 and is found at the Town’s POCD update page 2024 Plan of Conservation & Development Update (arcgis.com) , the Community Workshop #2 section, Goals and Strategies.

The Action Steps that will be finalized after the public opinion survey will shape the majority of the content within the new POCD, which is essentially a 10-year plan for the Town of New Canaan. This is the public’s remaining opportunity to share their opinion on this portion of the plan before a full draft POCD is formalized. The online survey follows an in-person workshop on the draft Action Steps that was held May 20.

The Action Steps survey focuses on the following POCD draft Goals and Strategies: Preserve New Canaan’s Welcoming, Small-Town Identity; Promote Creative, Balanced Development; Embrace Sustainability & Resiliency; and Enhance Community Infrastructure & Facilities.

The development of the new 10-year plan and all of the public input being gathered is under the direction of the Town of New Canaan Plan of Conservation & Development Sub-Committee, along with their planning consultant, SLR, and Town Planner Sarah Carey.

A complete draft of the new POCD is scheduled to be available to the public by the end of June.
