New Canaan Municipal Election Results

Pre-Election Information:
Voters will elect a new Board of Selectman, which will be determined as follows: The winner of the office of First Selectman race becomes chief executive of the Town. The runner-up in the First Selectman race will become a selectman. One candidate is listed on the ballot for the office of Selectman, and that person is running uncontested and will become a Selectman on the three-person board.

Seats on the ballot that contested are: First Selectman, Board of Education, and Constables. Seats on the ballot that are uncontested: Selectman, Town Clerk, Town Treasurer, Board of Assessment Appeals, and Town Council.

Registration

Those who are already registered to vote may confirm their registration and polling place by clicking here. Click here for New Canaan Voter District Map.

Registration to vote is open with the following deadlines: Hand-delivered registration forms must be received in the Town Hall Registrars Office by Oct. 31. Mailed registration forms must be postmarked by Oct. 31 and received in the Registrars Office no later than Nov. 6. The Mail-In Voter Registration Form is available here.

On Oct. 31 there will a one-day voter registration session at Town Hall in the Registrars’ Office from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

On Nov. 6 there will be a limited voter registration session from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for residents whose qualification by age, citizenship or residence was attained after Oct. 31.

Online Voter Registration is available until Oct. 31 at 11:59 p.m. Click here (voterregistration.ct.gov) to register online.

A final chance to register will be on Election Day in the Registrars’ Office from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for all residents who have not previously registered. Residents who register for the first time on that date may also obtain and cast a ballot at Town Hall in the Registrars’ Office. Voters who have been previously registered must vote at their polling place.
