Judy Neville called the meeting
to order at , at
the conclusion of the Father Peterís Lane Special Taxing District meeting.† She called the roll and asked that the
minutes of the Regular Meeting of
Mr. Oestmann then presented a request from the Highway Department to purchase a washdown rack for $10,021 and a hook truck for $79,530.† Considerable discussion was held on the necessity for the hook truck, with Mr. Oestmann arguing for its purchase, noting its multipurpose versatility, as well as the tedious procedures now required to strip down and wash trucks presently being used for hauling leaves, sand, woodchips, etc.† It was then pointed out that the hook truck had been rejected in last yearís budget, and would be purchased under an approved budget request for a truck that was never acquired.† On the motion of Mr. Giusti and the second of Mr. Potts, the request for the hook truck was tabled unanimously, and Mr. Oestmann was asked to request the item in his 2006-2007 budget.† On the motion of Mr. Potts and the second of Mr. Giusti, the request of $10,021 for the washdown rack was approved unanimously, with Mr. Oestmann noting that (1) the amount is well within the remaining budgeted amount of $36,000 and (2) the item is required to comply with a State directive.
The Selectmen next unanimously approved, on the motion of Mr. Giusti and the second of Mr. Potts,† the appointment of Andy Ashforth as Chairman and Peele Pennington and Hans Otto as members of the East School Roof Building Committee.† Mr. Otto explained that the formation of the Committee was a condition precedent to obtaining State reimbursement.
Ms. Miller then presented a request from the Department of Health to implement a Septic Plan Revision Fee of $50.† There is presently no fee for Septic Plan Review.† On the motion of Mr. Potts and the second of Mr. Giusti, the fee was approved unanimously.
Legal bills were next approved unanimously, on the motion of Mr. Potts and the second of Mr. Giusti.
At this point, , the Selectmen voted unanimously to go into Executive Session to discuss legal and personnel matters.† Upon returning to Regular Session at 11;55 am, the Selectmen voted unanimously, on the motion of Mr. Potts and the second of Mr. Giusti, to:
approve the attendance of John Howe at the New England Turf
Grass Conference in
∑ approve a tuition reimbursement request of $2500 for Bill Oestmann to attend one semester towards his Bachelorís degree.
∑ approved the satisfaction of the probation period of Milton Renzuli of the Department of Public Works.
