Track Improvement Project
The Connecticut Department of Transportation will implement a track improvement project at the New Canaan Train Station in order to accommodate the new M8 Metro-North train cars. Construction work will begin on August 2, 2010 and completion is planned for November 30, 2010. The realignment and extension of the track will require new retaining walls, catenary poles and foundations, and modification of parking, lighting, fencing and curbing. The Commuter parking lot (spaces 201-263) on the south side (Post Office side) of the New Canaan Train Station will be closed on July 31, 2010 and remain closed during the construction period. Alternative parking will be available in the Locust Avenue Lot (opposite the Fire House) in spaces 1-24 and in the Talmadge Hill Lot in the top-tier daily section. The mail drop-off lane and the adjacent Town parking lot across from the Post Office will remain open during the construction.
