Dog Obedience Class - Spring 2018

Good Citizen Dog Training will present two dog obedience classes, Beginners or Puppy Kindergarten. BEGINNERS is a 7-week program for dogs, over five months of age, and their owners. The class meets once a week to train dogs to walk quietly beside their handlers; to heel; to come; sit; down; stand; stay and other important exercises. We will also work on dog behavior issues: jumping, barking, digging, chewing, etc.  PUPPY KINDERGARTEN is a 7-week program for puppies under 5 months of age, and their handlers. The class meets once a week to train puppies to play nicely with others and work on basic obedience commands of sit, down, stay walk nicely on a leash (no pulling) and to come when called.  We will be building the foundation for your puppy to become a well mannered adult dog.  We will go over the puppy behavioral issues from potty training, chewing, jumping, nipping, barking, digging, etc.  The program is open to New Canaan residents only. The classes will meet on Tuesday afternoons from 12:30-1:30 for PUPPY KINDERGARTEN or 1:30-2:30 for BEGINNERS beginning April 17 through May 29 in Waveny Park at the PowerHouse Theatre parking lot. Qualifying dogs must be rabies vaccinated. The class requires a minimum 4 and is limited to 10 dogs. Come prepared with poop bags. You dog should be wearing a flat buckle collar with a 5-6 ft. leash (no retractable leashes or harnesses). Bring small easily chewed dog treats.
