Rockin Guitar Lessons from the Recreation Department
The New Canaan Recreation Department has announced they will offer both Beginner and Step Two Intermediate Youth Guitar Lessons beginning in January 2018

Beginner Class- come learn to play the guitar in this new 8-week program beginning January 4 - March 1, 2018 (no classes Feb. 22) for 3-8 grades (dates subject to change per Saxe MS scheduling). The Thursday afternoon program will have grades 5-8 meet from 3:00-4:00 and grades 3-4 meet from 4:00-5:00 at the Saxe Middle School Room 151. This class will start you on your way to enjoying music and playing the guitar. You don’t even have to own a guitar, one will be provided for you by the instructor for each and every class! Take-home rental guitars are also available for students to practice their new talent in their home. Each of the eight- one hour classes will provide a high level of group instruction in a fun and cooperative atmosphere. Learn cords, scales and theory and best of all, learn to play your favorite songs! Instructor Shane O’Reilly and his assistants are accomplished musicians who each week demonstrate the versatility of the guitar to students through live performances.
Intermediate Step Two Class- is for those who have completed the beginner class or have a demonstrated skill base beyond the beginner level. The Thursday afternoon program beginning January 4 - March 1, 2018 (no classes Feb. 22) is open to grades 5-8 from 3:00-4:00 and grades 3-4 from 4:00-5:00 at the Saxe Middle School Room 149 (dates subject to change per Saxe MS scheduling) . Instructors Jamie and Tod will take students through live performances to the next level with more chords and more great songs. Guitars will be available free for students use in the classroom in addition to take-home rental guitars.
