Governance Committee

What We Do

The Special Governance Committee of the New Canaan Board of Education will serve in an advisory capacity in assessing the Board’s governance structure and practices. The committee is charged with working with the Board and appropriate members of the administration and other town bodies to: Review and assess current best practices in board governance, particularly school board governance; Evaluate the New Canaan Board of Education’s current governance model, Policies and Bylaws against best practices and identify opportunities for improvement; Develop recommendations for consideration by the Board on changes and enhancements to its governance framework; Work with the Board Chair and the Superintendant to communicate the rationale and content of proposed changes to relevant town bodies and the broader New Canaan community
